DOGWOOD PRODUCTIONS
REAL LIVES. REAL VOICES
FACING THE WAVES IS THE CULMINATION OF A PROJECT THAT HAS STRETCHED OVER FIVE YEARS...
We have researched the history of lifeboats along the northern coasts, including many days at the British Library, reading copies of local newspapers from the Victorian era. This is history that is difficult to change...
But history keeps on being made and we have interviewed dozens of individuals along the coast about their lives, their aspirations and expectations. A modern day character in Facing The Waves is not a single person, but based on an amalgam of those we have met. We hope that they authentically represent life in our coastal towns, inevitably with its ups and downs
We are hugely grateful to all those who have given their time - and voices - to help us make this new production. The recordings will be preserved as a sound archive
